6 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE No Mercy 2017

3. Soooo, That Match Happened

It’s tough to determine whether Brock Lesnar versus Braun Strowman was a good match or a bad one, or if it was just something that happened.

No one was expecting a technical clinic from these two, but we’ve seen both men involved in other matches where they clearly held their own and put on a great show. So they certainly had the potential to turn this much-anticipated bout into a must-see.

And the result? It’s tough to say. On the one hand, Brock being overmatched in the early-going was a pretty near storyline, but he survived the onslaught and countered with a Kimura and five consecutive German suplexes. Even then, he still had to weather two running powerslams before hitting an F-5 for the win.

If you thought the finish was anticlimactic, you’re not alone. But the match was still a good power battle while it lasted. Much like Goldberg/Lesnar at WrestleMania XXXIII, Sunday’s title match was more about the spectacle than the wrestling.

It is surprising though that Strowman lost cleanly to one F-5, rather than kicking out of one or two before being slain.
