6 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Raw (July 6)

4. Fits And Starts

This entire Coronavirus pandemic has really wreaked havoc on much of society, and professional wrestling has been no different.

But watching Kevin Owens, a supremely talented wrestler who was coming off a big WrestleMania win in April, and seeing how he hasn’t been able to get any traction is just frustrating. KO has shown up sporadically since Mania, recovering from an injury and reportedly sitting out due to the prevalence of the virus. A family member of his passed away due to the virus as well, which no doubt has impacted things.

During the past three months, we’ve seen Owens on Raw several times, but never long enough to really build any kind of momentum. He returned Monday to host the KO Show with Seth Rollins as a guest, then tagged with Rey Mysterio against Rollins & Murphy, but he seemed almost superfluous, a stand-in for the (storyline) injured Humberto Carrillo and sub for Aleister Black, who also was injured earlier in the show.

Owens is a valuable commodity, so here’s hoping he gets rooted in and gets some traction soon. He’s too good to be clanging around.
