6 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 28)

6. Gotta Protect Jinder

Jinder Mahal was basically toast. Seth Rollins had the match won.

So why did Rollins grab a steel chair and get himself disqualified in his Intercontinental Championship match? The reason given on Raw was that his emotions boiled over after being attacked with a chair two weeks in a row and Sunil Singh interfering in the match.

But the reality is that they had to keep Mahal “strong” heading into his Money in the Bank match against Roman Reigns. Losing an IC title match to Rollins this far out from the PPV would have curbed Jinder’s “momentum” heading into his match against the Big Dog – or at least that has to be the logic.

If they needed to do that, it could have been done so much better. Rollins had taken out Singh, Mahal was down and in position for a curbstomp… and Seth chose to grab a chair outside the ring rather than finish him off. Singh could have introduced the chair and Rollins just picked it up and used it right away. It looked too artificial how it went down.
