6 Ups And 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 5th)

Ups...

6. Hometown Heroes Win

It bears noting that WWE broke from an unspoken €œtradition€ of having wrestlers lose in their hometowns Monday night, with two wrestlers getting their hands raised. Both John Cena and Sasha Banks claim the Boston area as their hometown, with Banks billed from the city and Cena from a short drive up the road in West Newberry. Banks picked up the submission victory in Team BAD€™s six-woman match against Team Bella, while Cena pinned Big E to retain the U.S. Championship. We€™ve seen multiple times throughout the years that whenever WWE plays up that they are in someone€™s hometown, that wrestler either loses or is humiliated in some fashion. Booker T seemingly never won in Houston. Paige lost to Alicia Fox last year in London after cutting a promo about how great it was to be home. William Regal seemed to lose in England more often than he won. While there are no statistics at the fingertips, it seems like WWE superstars are more likely to lose when on their home turf, so Cena and Banks€™ victories were certainly notable.
