6 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Battleground 2016

3. ‘No Enhancement Needed’

Fans who were wondering whether WWE would reference Brock Lesnar’s drug test violation got their answer Sunday night, when Randy Orton noted that he could drop the Beast with one RKO, “no enhancement needed.”

The comment drew a big response from the crowd, prompting Highlight Reel host Chris Jericho to observe that Orton probably would pay for that comment. Orton’s return to WWE TV was an interesting bit, with Randy playing a straight babyface: no voices in his head, no twitching or yelling, just a lot of tapping his chest and thanking fans for welcoming him back into the fold.

Orton got in a great dig by noting that he wanted to make an impact with his return, which is why he decided to go after Lesnar. He noted that his return wouldn’t have been as epic if he came back to face Fandango – a jab at Jericho, who lost to the ballroom dancer at WrestleMania XXIX.

It does bear slight criticism that WWE let Orton mock Brock’s drug test failure, despite the fact that he won’t face a WWE wellness policy violation, after Roman Reigns violated the policy.
