6 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE No Mercy 2016

3. Making The Title Matter

You would think an Intercontinental Championship match between two guys who had a combined nine IC title reigns (at the beginning of the bout) would feel unimportant, but it was the exact opposite Sunday night.

Give credit to having Dolph Ziggler’s career on the line. Give credit to Miz playing such a perfect heel that people love to boo him. And give credit to Daniel Bryan for being a great foil to Miz backstage, helping to elevate the champ even more. All of that helped play a role in making the Intercontinental Championship feel like a desirable title again.

So with Ziggler winning the strap at No Mercy, here’s hoping that WWE is cognizant of this and tries to make the title continue to matter. Do not turn this into a hot potato or have Ziggler lose every non-title match he’s in. Book a champ like a champ and have a challenger fight for a shot.
