6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Feb 2)

5. Rhodes Brothers Slow Implosion

When word began circulating that Dustin €œGoldust€ Runnels was winding down his in-ring career and expected to transition to being a road agent, the first question was whether WWE would finally pull the trigger on a Rhodes brothers feud. A battle between Goldust and Cody Rhodes has been teased for years, but nothing ever really materialized. It looks like that might finally change, as WWE has one last chance to make this happen. Since Cody morphed into Stardust, the Rhodes brothers have had varying degrees of success, holding the WWE Tag Team Championships once, but also losing a fair amount of their matches. Lately, the duo has been used more as enhancement talent, and the brothers have been sniping at each other. Monday, when Goldust attempted to get through to his brother, Stardust snapped and told him to €œnever call me Cody€ before storming off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7V0tBQYrwY The problem with this feud is twofold: There is little faith in WWE to get this long-simmering feud €œright,€ and it seems like the end result is going to be Stardust just taking the place of Goldust as the weirdo on the roster. If that€™s the case, it€™s a real shame that Cody Rhodes will be relegated to sideshow instead of somehow becoming a bigger player. Call this a negative that with some serious optimism could be a positive.
