6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 12th)
4. Brock And Heyman Shine
Whenever Paul Heyman is on Raw, the quality of the program automatically jumps. He commands the fans attention and keeps them interested and involved in the segment, and more importantly, gets them invested in whats happening. Throw in Brock Lesnar (the guy with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which hasnt been defended in nearly four months), and Raw ticks upward a little more. Heymans fantasy versus reality speech helped re-establish that Lesnar is a beast and that hes all business when it comes to competing. Brock himself brought that point to bear by getting in Seth Rollins face to tell him that the future starts when I say it starts. That is how you build tension for a match, and that is how a world champion acts. For a program that has resembled Vince McMahons Comedy Hour more and more, having a blast of Lesnar and Heyman was a necessary reminder that fans are watching professional wrestling, and it can occasionally be serious.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
