6 Wrestling Finishers That Were Discovered By Accident
5. Claymore Kick (Drew McIntyre)
Anyone who has enjoyed seeing Scottish powerhouse Drew McIntyre cave skulls in with his Claymore Kick since returning to WWE should give his old tailor a call. Whomever manufactured those leather trousers he'd wear in 3MB is responsible for the move's success, split-legged look and visceral impact.
On a Table For 3 episode with ex-stablemates Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal, McIntyre revealed that he wouldn't have performed the move that way, had his rockstar gear not made it impossible to do anything else.
During a match on the March 25 2013 Raw, Drew sprinted at Ryback and aimed a standard big boot at his head. Due to the tightness of the leather, his other leg couldn't stay standing, and so it followed high up into the air. McIntyre noted the crowd's reaction and developed the Claymore's trademark thump from there.
Hilariously, he was knocked senseless by the bump himself and tried to put a half-hearted hold on Ryback before tagging himself out. The pain was worth it, no doubt, because the kick is quickly becoming one of WWE's best spots.
