6 WWE Returns That Could Still Be Good Business

4. The Hardy Boyz

It's a shame that TNA once again appears to be on its last legs, as the reinvention that Matt Hardy has undergone into 'Broken' Matt Hardy has been one of the best things to happen to professional wrestling in 2016. It'd be tragic to let the legal, political, and financial difficulties of his employer kill off this new persona.

Though his brother Jeff is part of this unhinged act as 'Brother Nero' (the two are the current TNA Tag Team Champions, in their second reign), it is Matt who has truly stood out, bucking the trend given that he has arguably always lived in his younger brother's shadow from a singles wrestling standpoint. Moving their new act to their old employers could prove a shrewd way to prolong its longevity, bolstering the WWE's tag team division and enabling interesting match-ups with the likes of the Wyatt Family.

There is the possibility that the WWE would force them to drop this, however, bringing them back solely as the Hardy Boyz given that this is how the majority of fans would remember them. Such a move ultimately stifled the return of the Dudley Boyz, who quickly became a nostalgia act with Bubba Ray given no opportunity to reprise the excellent Bully Ray character that he'd developed during his time away.

Regardless of the specifics, any return by Matt and Jeff would be a big deal, given that neither of them have made an appearance in a WWE ring in more than six years. Both have seemingly hinted their willingness to return, but at 42 and 39 respectively, it needs to come around sooner rather than later if the company wants to get more than a short run out of them.
