With Ryback in the rear view, WWE Champion John Cena was ready for a new challenger. Hall of Pain aficionado Mark Henry fit the bill just fine, making it all the more shocking when he came out in a salmon suit to announce his retirement.

After an emotional and heartfelt promo, Henry slammed the suddenly duped Cena and proudly proclaimed he had a whole lot left in the tank. Fans were stunned and a big time feud for the title was born. After several violent beatdowns leading up to Money In The Bank 2013, Cena was a champ in peril and Henry an immensely popular monster challenger.

When the bell rang however, the excellent storytelling was ultimately disappointed by mediocre wrestling. Often clunky and plodding, the match saw the super strong Henry resort to ref bumps and low blows to keep the edge. Ultimately, even with the rule bending, Henry fell like so many before him to Cena’s pressure-free STF.

While the match was not terrible by any stretch, it failed to capitalise on a great angle and ultimately undid much of the main event aura Henry had cultivated upon returning to the promotion earlier that year.
