7 Awesome Wrestling Feuds Ruined By Disappointing Matches

5. Brock Lesnar Vs. Braun Strowman (No Mercy 2017)

Braun Strowman was a Vince McMahon project that successfully connected big time with audiences. His ridiculously entertaining segments concerning ambulance flipping and other Hulk like feats at Roman Reigns’s expense were a smash hit during 2017.

After a wild Fatal 4 Way at SummerSlam 2017 with Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe, Strowman seemed poised to dethrone the Beast Incarnate. The build to their No Mercy match implied Strowman was Lesnar’s biggest threat yet as champ. From no-selling Lesnar’s German suplexes to beating the typically unstoppable champ senseless, Strowman came across as an unstoppable monster (among men).

Their announce table destroying antics at SummerSlam left many expecting a King Kong vs. Godzilla level clash between the two. Instead, fans got a nine minute snooze fest where the once deadly Strowman fell to one F-5 and put up little resistance against Lesnar.

A short and uneventful affair, Strowman’s credibility and star aura took a bad blow here and never recovered. The big man’s chances at a world title run grow slimmer every year. Let’s not even get into their Saudi Arabia set rematch in 2018...
