7 Best Obsessive Wrestling Storylines
Obsession. Desire. Depression.
The Cambridge dictionary defines obsessive as, "thinking about something or someone, or doing something, too much or all the time". That meaning is heavily present in the tropes of pro wrestling storylines, because it allows creative to depict a person so preoccupied with another that it consumes their every waking moment.
This obsession can come in many forms, most of them ideal for heels who can't live with the thought of babyfaces doing well.
Maybe they want to stop another worker from winning championships, or they're trying to muscle in on a relationship to become the object of someone's desire. Alternatively, it can simply be one wrestler attempting to oust another from the picture by way of mind games, or the reason for a good ol' heel/babyface turn.
Not every obsessive storyline is creepy, but there is a thread of the disturbing about the idea of one person becoming so absorbed in undermining or destroying another that they will go to extraordinary lengths.
