Chris Jericho wasn't obsessed with a title when he targeted Shawn Michaels in 2008. No, Y2J was simply disgusted that his childhood hero could be so selfish and no good to feign injury during a match he was refereeing. At Backlash against Batista, that's exactly what the crafty HBK did to nab the win.

Jericho, feeling ashamed to be a Michaels cheerleader, was outraged that he'd been hoodwinked, and he wanted answers.

This facilitated one hell of a heel turn for the Canadian and planted a seed for 2008's standout feud. After grilling Shawn on his pretence, Jericho blasted his teen icon through the Jeri-Tron on The Highlight Reel and launched a one-man campaign to unmask the fraud behind Michaels' legend.

In 2008, that was all Jericho cared about. Consequently, his obsession became HBK's too; even when Shawn was written to "retire" at SummerSlam, he was drawn back in after Jericho socked his wife. What a story, one so good that Y2J's kayfabe obsession became every wrestling fan's new passion.
