2. Shawn Michaels Must Beat The Undertaker

Elimination Chamber 2010

If anyone can name better back-to-back WrestleMania matches than the ones worked by Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at XXV and XXVI, then yours truly will be shocked. Both bouts were a stunning example of how credibility with fans, storytelling and in-ring nous can combine to create pro wrestling excellence.

After the original's exhibition presentation, WWE knew they needed something more for the follow-up.

Enter Shawn Michaels' crazed need to topple 'Taker's WrestleMania winning streak before hanging up his tights. The promos HBK cut in the lead up to XXVI, and the way he'd beg for another chance to beat one of his greatest foes, was spellbinding stuff. When 'The Deadman' said no, Michaels decided to kill his World Title reign inside the Elimination Chamber.

Two things that stood out in the story more than anything were Shawn's disinterest in the title itself and his willingness to help old rival Chris Jericho bag the gold if it meant sending a message to 'Taker. This, this was how to end a career. It remains a multi-layered drama that'd put most feature films to shame.
