The Trish/Mickie angle that started in late 2005 and led up to WrestleMania 22 in 2006 was arguably the best storyline involving two women in WWE history. It was actually something that Mickie came up with. She has mentioned that she came up with the idea for Lita because she knew her well, but then management suggest Trish would be a better fit. There were so many things that went right with the angle. They took their time with the story by bringing Mickie along as this overly excited babyface that idolized Trish. Later, we found out that she was obsessed with her and had this physical attraction to her as well. It was all about the mind games. After Mickie got in her head, she turned heel and walked into WrestleMania 22 in Chicago with the momentum on her side. The fans liked her character so much that they cheered her. Trish dropped the Women's Title to Mickie right in the middle of the ring just as she should have. This feud was an example of how much Trish evolved. She went from being the woman that was on the rise, to the face of the division and then to the biggest name that was needed to help make somebody else a star. It's a shame that Trish retired in September of 2006 because they could have had many more matches over the years. Their last match was on a Raw in Madison Square Garden right before Unforgiven, which Trish won. The feud took place over eight years ago. People still talk about it as one of the best diva stories ever. The only reason it's not number one is because another rivalry lasted longer.
