It's important to show different kind of matches. If you have somebody watching with you that is willing to sit down for one hour to watch a match then this is a great choice. The reason a Rumble match works for a non-wrestling fan is they don't have to focus on just two people in a match. The Rumble has 30 participants coming down to the ring about every two minutes so it's a fresh face over and over. Your viewing partner might want to know the backstory of a character, whether he became a star and that kind of thing, so it's a way to keep the attention of your fellow viewer. The battle royal concept is easy to follow because it only involves being thrown over the top to the floor. Last person to avoid being thrown out wins. Simple enough. This is also a match that had a lot of star power with big names like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Jake Roberts and many others that a casual observer may have heard of. Put on the 1992 Rumble and watch Ric Flair overcome the odds to win the WWE Title. It's a classic.
