7 Big Questions Raised By GFW's Latest Financial Meltdown
1. Is This Finally The End?
GFW's impending closure has been rumoured so many times throughout their lifespan that it's hard to take such stories seriously anymore. The company have been on 'death watch' for years, with the most recent example coming last October, when it was speculated that they'd go out of business if they couldn't secure emergency funding for their Bound For Glory pay-per-view.
Anthem ultimately stepped in to save GFW, but stories of the company's demise stretch all the way back to 2002, when Jeff and Jarrett first sold to the Carter family. They'll likely follow the promotion until the day it finally passes out of existence, which may be on the cards if the financial situation is as dire as has been reported.
GFW's cockroach-like survivability has helped them through countless periods of turmoil, but what right-minded investor would want to inherit this poisoned company's burden now? Suitors will likely be in short supply. If so, we could see widescale asset stripping as Anthem put things like the promotion's tape library up for sale to squeeze as much money out of GFW as possible, before finally ridding wrestling of its most beleaguered brand.
Or perhaps Global Force will survive once more, flapping mindlessly towards their next major fiasco like a moth to a flame.
