The greatest return at SummerSlam 2019 would be the phrase "I did it for The Rock".

The Biggest Party of the Summer is coming, which means it's time to speculate on all the major wrestling returns we could see at WWE's second biggest show of the year. SummerSlam 2019 will take place on Sunday, August 11th in Toronto and there are plenty of inactive wrestlers who could make their presences felt.

Many of the entries on this list are current members of the WWE roster who have been absent from TV, due to injuries or other reasons. There are also stars that haven't been seen in a WWE ring for some time, but who could use the grand SummerSlam stage to make a momentous return to wrestling. This will be the case for WWE/WCW legend Bill Goldberg, who appeared on Monday Night Raw to set up his match with Dolph Ziggler.

Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler is one of 10 matches that have been announced for the show so far, 6 of which are for championships. Thus there are plenty of opportunities for returning stars to inject themselves into current storylines. If you have an idea for a returning superstar which isn't included on this list, be sure to share it in the comments below.

7. Sheamus

There are conflicting reports on whether Sheamus is actually medically cleared for in-ring action or not. He's been gone since the SmackDown after WrestleMania. Initially, this was chalked up to a concussion but the Celtic Warrior also suffers from spinal stenosis which is likely to shorten his career. Either way he keeps himself in fantastic shape.

Last week Sheamus unveiled his new haircut on social media whilst dressed as a WWE referee. This may be an indication that he's gearing up for in-ring action again. You get the sense that he is only teasing fans with the striped T-shirt but even if he really is embarking on a new career, then SummerSlam would be a great place for him to re-debut.

There isn't anything glaringly obvious for Sheamus to do on the SummerSlam card so a simple appearance would suffice, even if it's a backstage one.
