7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Elimination Chamber 2019

1. No SmackDown Women’s Championship Match

With the crowning of the first ever Women's Tag Team Champions, Elimination Chamber was supposed to be a night all about honouring the progress in the women’s evolution. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, one of the division's front-runners (and champions) was absent from the show.

Despite the fact that she and Becky Lynch brought the house down less than a month ago at the Royal Rumble, SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka was left off the card. Not only was she one of the few women superstars on the main roster to be excluded from the event, her absence left Elimination Chamber without a Women's Championship match from the blue brand. Not a good look for such a historic event now, is it?

This ended up being a major step backwards for the women's evolution, as it suggested that, going forward, the introduction of a Women's Tag Title match could come at the cost of one of the solo Women's Championship matches (with SmackDown more than likely always missing out). Moreover, it also hindered the event itself, as Asuka could have breathed some much-needed life into the middle of the show, offering us something a lot more entertaining than the multitude of disappointments we got (and that includes the Raw Women's Championship match).
