7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Elimination Chamber 2019
2. Finn Bálor Scoring The Pinfall On Lio Rush
Finn Bálor's two-and-a-half year-long title drought came to an end on Sunday night when he finally became the Intercontinental Champion. A much-needed PPV victory for the underappreciated superstar, this could be the reinvention that he needs - not to mention WWE's chance to finally make him the star that he should have already been by now.
So, just in case that wasn't clear, Bálor's Intercontinental Title win was undoubtedly the right move. The only problem is the way in which he obtained the gold.
Taking on the team of Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a Handicap Match, he ended up scoring a rather shocking victory over Rush, who tagged himself into the match without Lashley's approval. While the whole thing made for a genuinely feel-good moment, as fans rejoiced at the fact that Bálor finally got some well-deserved gold, in hindsight it did seem a little senseless.
Being the conclusion of his unnecessarily long title drought, it seemed a little bit of a letdown that he didn't even pin the champion to win the title. Bálor has undoubtedly made a great comeback as of late and is more than worthy of a holding a championship, but a victory over either Brock Lesnar last month (to win his second Universal Championship) or Bobby Lashley last night (to win his Intercontinental Championship) would have carried a lot more gravity than this.
