7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Super ShowDown 2019

4. Building The Main Events Properly

In spite of setting up 10 matches for Super ShowDown, WWE primarily marketed the event around two main event matches: Randy Orton vs. Triple H and The Undertaker vs. Goldberg. Like it or not, it was an understandable move, given that these four men were undoubtedly the biggest stars appearing at the event. The only problem was how little effort went into crafting worthwhile storylines to go with these inevitable collisions.

Orton and Trips only came face-to-face for the first time on last week's Raw, while Undertaker and Goldberg did the exact same on SmackDown the following night. As confrontations go, they were both pretty great and, as a result, highlighted how good these programs could have been had the writers given them the attention that they so clearly needed.

The eventual matches may have been disappointing but that doesn't change the fact that the build-ups could have been incredible. Both pairings could have created memorable feuds that, at the very least, may have given the weekly TV ratings a much-needed boost. Yet the creative team chose the lazy route and built the matches around reputation alone which, considering how great the face-offs were, just feels like a major missed opportunity.

Could you imagine what a properly booked Undertaker vs. Goldberg feud would have looked like?
