Raw's Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins successfully defended his brand's honour when he took on and defeated SmackDown's United States Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. While the match was undoubtedly one of the evening's better offerings, the absence of one superstar left the WWE Universe feeling a little confused. That superstar is, of course, Dean Ambrose.

Rollins is currently embroiled in a personal feud with his former Shield brother after Ambrose betrayed him a few weeks ago. The 'Lunatic Fringe' had previously teased a heel turn when he revealed that he was upset about the fact that he was the only member of The Shield not to possess a championship.

As it was announced that he will get his shot at gold next month at TLC when he faces off against Rollins for the Intercontinental Title, it would have made perfect sense for him to interfere in 'The Kingslayer's match with Nakamura at Survivor Series. Not only would it have furthered their program, it would have laid the groundwork for their upcoming title match.

We already know from his 2016 feud with AJ Styles that Ambrose doesn't really care about brand solidarity and, given the new darker direction that his character is heading in, he would have taken great pleasure in assaulting Rollins and potentially costing him the match. This makes his absence all the more baffling.
