7 Changes John Cena Should Make When He Returns To WWE

4. Change His Wrestling Gear

It may be hard for Cena to consider it because he's had the same look for so long, but getting rid of the shorts and the sneakers may be a good idea. It's actually pretty amazing that he hasn't suffered more ankle injuries while wrestling in sneakers. Most wrestlers wear boots in part because they protect the ankle, so you don't see guys spraining them very often. Rusev injured his ankle months ago because he was wrestling barefoot and has now switched to shoes to help prevent future incidences. The reason Cena ditched the regular wrestling tights/pants and the boots is because it fit his persona as a young, up-and-coming hip hop star. The jean shorts reflected that character more than the generic boots and tights he was wearing before. It was cool to see him do that in 2003, but it's 2015 and at 38 years of age, it just looks awkward. Is he going to be wrestling into his 40s with that look? It might be time for a change. Since Cena is a walking WWEShop advertisement selling his shirt, hat and wristbands every time he's on camera, he may not be willing to change up some things. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea if he kept the dayglow threads and just went in a different direction in terms of his in-ring gear.
