7 Classic WWE Moments That Haven't Aged Well
2. Vince McMahon Forces Trish Stratus To Publicly Strip
Anyone defending this stuff will churn out the age-old excuse that what happened on the 5 March 2001 Raw fit Mr. McMahon's power mad characterisation. Yes, it did, but it's hard to justify that contention when WWE cite Trish Stratus as one of the best female workers of all time and an important precursor to the women's revolution.
Seeing her cry and look humiliated as thousands of horny males whooped and hollered in the audience is embarrassing now. Seriously, try to watch this with anybody who wasn't watching wrestling at the time and prepare to be met with a concerned glance or two.
This wasn't an innocent bikini contest. There's nothing wrong with admiring the human body, but lines begin to blur when realising that Stratus' (in character or not) wasn't enjoying the attention.
Without padding this with characterisation or the "different time" argument, it was tasteless to watch Trish unwillingly strip to her underwear then crawl around the ring barking like a dog for the live crowd's amusement.
