Ziggler is currently taking time off from TV after dropping his US Title, but it makes no sense for him to return and challenge for the same belt he vacated.
If Ziggler goes back to competing for the midcard strap, it ruins the entire angle and confuses fans as to whether he does or doesn’t care about the United States Title. The only logical thing Ziggler can do without damaging his character is to set his eyes on the biggest prize in the business: the WWE Championship.
Ziggler's main gripe with the company is that he feels he is overlooked when it comes to getting a shot at any of the major Championships. This is where Ziggler needs to show fans and management alike that only a fool would underestimate him by proving his worth and winning the Royal Rumble.
He doesn’t have to necessarily win the WWE Title at ‘Mania, but Ziggler certainly needs to show why he is a legitimate threat to the Champion.
