The relationship between Hulk Hogan and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage was always a fractious ones. At times, both men worked extremely well together, such as in the late 1980's when they would draw a significant amount of money working a headline program in the WWF. Then, there were other times when they did not see eye to eye, such as Savage's apparent distrust of Hogan around his wife, Miss. Elizabeth.

On his 2003 rap CD 'Be A Man', Savage even dedicated an entire song to Hogan. Lyrics such as, 'You're avoiding Randy Savage 'cause you know you'll get smoked' indicate that the pair weren't best of buddies around that time. Randy's brother Lanny also assessed that whilst Hogan deserved to try and make amends, it was against Randy's wishes to go into the Hall Of Fame without his family.

Nonetheless, WWE pressed on, and fans were faced with the ironic situation of seeing someone Savage supposedly didn't come to terms with before his death inducting him. Hulk talked favourably about Savage, but others like Bret Hart questioned why Hogan was even inducting Randy in the first place when they clearly didn't get along and there were far more appropriate candidates.
