3. Has Italian And French-Canadian Ancestry

John Cena was the second born of 5 children. His father, John Cena Sr. has shown up on WWE television on occasion, most notably around ringside. It's common knowledge that Cena Jr. was born in West Newbury, Massachusetts, but a lot of people won't know about his family background. The wrestler's father has Italian roots, but that's not where it stops. Cena's mother, Carol has French-Canadian and English ancestry. This all adds together to form quite the mix, meaning John Cena's family is quite the melting pot of diverging cultures and backgrounds. In Italian, the word 'Cena' can be translated to 'supper' in English. The name definitely has Italian heritage. It's fair to say that John Cena is a proud North American, but it's fascinating to learn that he has such a diverse background. His mother's maiden name was 'Lupien', which is most certainly French in origin. This isn't something John has spoken much about during interviews, even when he's been more candid about his personal life and childhood.
