7 Feuds Key To Baron Corbin's Success In WWE

2. AJ Styles

One of the really great elements of Corbin's character in NXT was his complete and utter disdain for Internet darlings. It was not out of the ordinary for him to talk trash while working guys like Sami Zayn, Austin Aries or even Rich Swann, who he infamously yelled "go back to Ring of Honor" at during a squash match. It is an element of his on-screen persona true to his real self, as fans witnessed on the WWE Network exclusive Breaking Ground.

It is an element that should bleed over to the main roster, especially given the wealth of former Indy talent current making waves on Raw and SmackDown. There is no bigger star in WWE, currently competing at the top of the company and for the world heavyweight championship, than AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One cut his teeth in TNA, ROH, New Japan and countless other independent promotions en route to becoming one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation...and a bona fide Internet god.

What better way to evoke that fire from Corbin than by putting him in the ring with Styles and letting him work his magic by being the anti-Indy guy that finally got him over as a main event heel in NXT?

Allowing him to find himself, to develop that character, is the surest way to ensure Corbin does not go the way of other NXT call-ups and fall into mediocrity.
