Drew McIntyre was the 'Chosen One'. The Scot was (kayfabe) hand-picked by Vince McMahon himself to become a "future WWE champion" back in 2009. Of course, we all know that this didn't happen. After brief Intercontinental and Tag Team title reigns, McIntyre dropped down the card faster than you can say 3MB, and eventually, he found himself out of the company.

Following a successful run on the indie circuit though, Drew has got his place back in WWE and at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, he was crowned NXT champion. And despite him being immediately made to look weak by an Adam Cole post-match battering, we'd expect to see him have a decent run as the face of NXT.

The question is, can McIntyre then return to the main roster and finally live up to McMahon's eight year-old prophecy? It's almost a dead cert, as he's clearly grown as a wrestler and learned valuable lessons in his time away. It's unlikely that either the WWE, or McIntyre himself, will make the same mistakes that occurred during his first aborted run.

And if McIntyre does hit the big-time in his second coming, he can finally put to rest the cursed 'Chosen One' moniker, and become the 'Deserved One'.
