It's difficult to describe Booby Roode's rise to prominence in the WWE with just one adjective. Triumphant? Illustrious? Magnificent? No, none of those effectively sum up how, in a relatively short time, he's gone from his NXT debut to the main roster of SmackDown. It's been, well, terrific.

The biggest reason that WWE wasted no time in putting Roode onto the blue brand is because he's not like many of his fellow developmental wrestlers. At 40 years old, and with a cool 19 years in-ring experience behind him, his wrestling skills and personality are already on-point enough for him to seamlessly slot into any big show.

He might not be involved in title matches straight away, but Roode has enough shrewdness to put himself over quickly with mainstream audiences and rise up through the ranks. He could re-ignite old rivalries with guys like AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura, or develop brand new feuds with top dogs like John Cena. Either way, he'll be headlining WWE title matches within a year.

And for a man approaching the twilight of his wrestling career, a WWE championship would surely be a glorious way to go out. Wait, glorious? Hmm... that might just work.
