With Tessa Blanchard and Michael Elgin both now departed from Impact Wrestling for different reasons, it left Impact management in quite a predicament. Not only where they both previously announced to be participating in the Slammiversary main event, but Tessa had been the reigning champion at the time.

As is often the case though, management pulled through, and scheduled an equally as tantalising replacement main event. The three other challengers in that original five way match - Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards, and Trey - would enter the ring alongside a mystery competitor, with a new World Champion guaranteed to be crowned by the end of the pay-per-view.

Even without that mystery challenger, the match is already looking wonderful. The stories Ace has made with both Eddie and Trey will make for some interesting interactions throughout the bout, while the athleticism of all three of them will no doubt equal the in-ring action to the story side of things.

The mystery fourth man only adds to the excitement here. At least one former World Champion has been confirmed to be returning to Impact at this event, alongside an abundance of other teases. It wouldn't be surprising in any way to see that former champ unveiled as the mystery man here, most likely either EC3 or Eric Young, who have been the two most anticipated returning stars.

No matter who it is, it's more or less confirmed to be a show-stealing main event.

Winner: Ace Austin
