7 Implications Of Alberto Del Rio And Rey Mysterio Defying WWE

2. Encourage Other Superstars

All of this may help to shine a bit of a light on similar situations. Other contracted WWE superstars may look at the actions of Del Rio and Mysterio and feel a bit inspired. Like CM Punk before them, the Mexican superstars chose to pay no mind to WWE and did what they wanted to. WWE is the biggest game in town, but it€™s not the only one. There are plenty of other places in the wrestling world to make a living, and Del Rio, especially, has proved that not everyone needs WWE to continue to be successful. Alberto has taken his talents and impassioned supporters back to Mexico without losing a substantial amount of popularity. Furthermore, he seemingly has strong job security with AAA and will continue to be successful -- maybe even more so -- just on a slightly smaller scale. Mysterio, on the other hand, has defied WWE while under an active contract with the company. So far, no real punishment has been delivered to the masked superstar, although there is much talk about what will happen. Despite the speculation, there€™s always a chance that nothing will happen. Rey could presumably sit at home until his contract runs out before returning triumphantly to Mexico. The recent actions of these superstars -- and similarly, CM Punk€™s walkout -- have seemingly showed other contracted WWE workers that the promotion isn€™t Big Brother. No one is going to go and break the contract all willy nilly now, but there€™s a glimmer of hope for some. Perhaps more superstars looking to get out of their deals will decide that whatever consequences WWE hands down are worth their happiness elsewhere.
