7 Improvements WWE Network Needs To Make
6. Fill In The Gaps
With endless hours of footage available on the Network, a lazy day with the search function can easily turn a quick episode of Story Time into an entire afternoon down the WWE rabbit hole. However, there are a few notable shows that are conspicuous by their absence.
Heat and Velocity ran for several years each and featured some classic bouts that would make great viewing today, from RVD vs. Jerry Lynn from Heat in 2001 to Cena vs. Bryan from Velocity in 2003. Surprisingly, neither show is on the Network at present.
Similarly, Metal and Jakked are also absent, which featured early appearances from Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, as well as the infamous Perry Saturn/Mike Bell incident. Meanwhile, Shotgun Saturday Night was one of the most unique shows in WWE history and would make a fantastic addition to the on-demand library.
Even the comprehensive ECW collection is a little sketchy in parts. While ECW's first official PPV is well-documented as Barely Legal '97, WWE have opted to include certain events prior to that in their PPV catalogue, e.g. Cyber Slam '96. The ECW content may be a little trickier in terms of overdubbing songs and working around music rights, but it's odd that WWE have included one or two pre-PPV events and not the others that were originally released on VHS and DVD, such as Big Ass Extreme Bash and its ilk.
