7 Interesting WWE Matches For A Shawn Michaels Comeback
3. Randy Orton
Randy Orton had his main roster debut in the year of our lord 2002. The man is not even 40 yet, but it's clear to anyone who's watched WWE for a long time that he is now the old guard of company. During his time as one of the young up-and-comers, Orton had many run-ins with Shawn Michaels, which included several PPV matches. While never key rivals at any point, Orton and HBK put on some damn good matches which helped establish Orton's credibility as an in-ring performer.
Many years later, and the former "Legend Killer" is calling himself Legend. After a heel turn this summer, Orton feels reinvigorated as he heads into a Hell in a Cell match against Jeff Hardy. Now that Orton is once again a ruthless psychopath, he seems destined for big things in the coming months, including a run with the WWE title.
With Shawn Michaels potentially coming back, Orton should be on anyone's shortlist for a match. Given that HBK was in the same spot Orton was when the latter was young, the natural story is there with an Old Guard vs. Older Guard dynamic. Plus, given both men's expert ability to control the crowd, this match would easily get over without relying on any over-the-top athleticism.
