7 Interesting WWE Matches For A Shawn Michaels Comeback

Here's one that legit almost happened. Over the years, Shawn has had many rumors of a comeback, and the most prevalent one in recent years was a match against AJ Styles. During the Phenomenal One's first reign as WWE Champion, a fanmade Royal Rumble poster featuring the two against the skyline of San Antonio (Michaels' hometown) made the one rounds, with AJ even tweeting it himself.

Supposedly, there were serious plans on WWE's part to have HBK come out of retirement to wrestle AJ, if not at the Rumble, then at WrestleMania 33. However, those plans apparently fell through due to Shawn's unwillingness to come out of retirement.

But no one is made of stone, and now that WWE are rolling in Saudi Arabian oil money, it looks as though HBK is willing to un-retire. Anything is possible - including a match with Styles.

No doubt, in terms of in-ring style, no performer has earned more comparisons to Shawn Michaels than AJ.
