Quick piece of alarming WWE trivia: in beating Bob Backlund for the WWE Championship in a mere eight seconds at an MSG House Show in November 1994, Diesel became only the company's third-ever Triple Crown winner - and he did it all within a blistering seven months.

McMahon had been trying - and failing - to recreate Hulk Hogan for years, with the monstrous man from Michigan the latest candidate. Top babyface Bret Hart simply wasn't drawing, so the decision was made to hotshot the title to the burgeoning Big Daddy Cool - and in rapid fashion.

WWE heavily telegraphed Diesel's impending victory just three days after Backlund had snared the strap from Hart at Survivor Series '94, informing fans that a 900 number would provide commentary on the upcoming MSG house show, hinting it just might be worth tuning in for. Furthermore, the match was advertised as being 'no submissions' - effectively ruling Backlund and his deadly chickenwing out of contention.

Despite being the dawn of the company's 'New Generation', the blink-and-you'll-miss-it match only exists in reference on the Network.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
