7 Match Star Ratings For WWE WrestleMania 37 - Night 1

6. Tag Team Turmoil Match To Determine #1 Contender For Women's Tag Team Titles

Cesaro Seth Rollins
WWE

Honestly, this wasn't the total shambles much of the online discourse suggested. It wasn't great. But it wasn't the worst thing WWE has ever produced at WrestleMania.

There was even a remarkably competent Lana and Billie Kay sequence before...a totally botched one. Still, that was refreshing for about six seconds there, and Kay at least provided exactly what was required in the second-match comedy slot. She celebrated a successful fall by doing that thing to look goofy on purpose that Seth Rollins used to do to try to look cool.

The Riott Squad did well to keep everything from falling off the rails, but even when it was halfway solid it was still poor and wildly uneven. Ruby Riott is clearly the old pro, but Liv Morgan impressed in patches. Her work is tight and there's real personality to it, and she grasped that timing and suspense is key when breaking up a pinfall. Poor Dana Brooke, who by all accounts really puts the graft in, saved her partner after a one count in contrast.

This, to be kind, was very, very uneven before Natalya's help dragged it to the painfully workmanlike level. And then Tamina delivered a frog splash that looked almost as sh*tty as Snoop Dogg's.

Star Rating: ★★
