7 Mistakes The Authority Has Made In Their First Year

1. Big Show's Bankruptcy Angle That Led To A Push Nobody Cared About

The involvement of the Big Show in the Authority feud last fall was lame. They needed other babyfaces to feud with Hunter and Steph, so they created this story that Big Show was nearly bankrupt. Hunter had to buy his house, so they got him to do things for them like knock out Daniel Bryan even though at heart Show was still a babyface. Eventually things started to go Show's way and Show even got to headline Survivor Series against Randy Orton despite the fact that he rarely won any meaningful matches. It was one of the worst PPV main events in years. We're supposed to believe a millionaire that's been in WWE for 15 years blew all his money? It's ridiculous. He was crying on camera so many times that it made him look like a blubbering idiot instead of a guy that we wanted to support as a credible babyface threat to the evil Authority members. During the feud with Show against Hunter, Steph and Orton there were reports that it would lead to Hunter vs. Show at TLC or some other PPV after that. It didn't happen. Since WWE realized that the story wasn't working they stopped pushing Show. Bryan was made to look like a loser at the expense of Show, who was terrible as a top babyface in this angle. Everybody was hurt by it. What should have happened was Show should have gone heel. They should have turned him into a guy that Bryan thought he could trust and then have him screw Bryan just to build up opponent for Bryan. Instead, Show ended up getting a title shot even though he really didn't warrant it based on the mediocre crowd response he was getting. The entire storyline was a waste of time with no long term benefits. It really was one of the most boring main event storylines we've seen in a long time.
