7 Mistakes WWE Will Probably Make With The Draft This Week
6. NXT Gets Gutted
On Sunday evening, WWE.com released a list of rules for the draft. Amongst them was the revelation that six stars from the NXT brand will become part of the WWE roster.
It could be worse, to be honest - many feared that NXT would be unrecognisable after the draft. Nevertheless, six stars is a lot for a brand with an active roster of less than thirty, and it's likely going to be the most valuable stars who are poached.
NXT has already basically written Finn Balor and American Alpha off of TV, so it's a safe bet that they'll be three of the six. As for the remaining three, it's hard to imagine neither Samoa Joe nor Shinsuke Nakamura being taken, but both are invaluable to the company's men's division.
The same can be said for Bayley and Nia Jax in the women's division, and again, odds are that one will go. Other picks could be names such as Austin Aries, Hideo Itami, Tye Dillinger, Alexa Bliss, and Andrade "Cien" Almas.
It's not a bad thing that these stars are getting called up - that's what development is ultimately for. The problem is that an exodus this large and with nobody waiting to immediately replace the promoted stars could really hurt NXT.
