7 Most Embarrassing John Cena WWE Defeats

7. Brock Lesnar - SummerSlam 2014

While there€™s no shame at all in losing to Brock Lesnar, the way in which this loss went down will likely loom over Cena€™s head for the rest of his career. Mick Foley claimed the contest to be the most impressive, dominant WWE title win that he€™s ever seen, while fans were also all over Twitter to declare their shock and awe at the performance of Lesnar. Long story short, the Beast gave new meaning to the phrase €œwiping the floor€ with his opponent. 16 suplexes (supli?) and two F-5s prevented Cena from offering virtually any offense whatsoever. Moments after the bell had rang he was already in trouble, as Lesnar nearly scored what would have been a 30-second victory. Cena started the showdown on the back foot, and spent the following 16 minutes in pretty much the same situation. Of course, given the smoke-and-mirrors nature of professional wrestling, this defeat arguably wasn€™t as embarrassing as others. Cena was just following the script after all. If the same thing had gone down in an octagon, then you€™d probably be looking at the most embarrassing defeat in any sport and of any era. But it didn€™t. It happened in the squared circle, where squash matches aren€™t necessarily a reflection of a wrestler€™s ability. Hence, there are a number of other defeats that can be deemed much more embarrassing for Cena.
