6. Vince McMahon Doesn't Want His Idea Of Sports Entertainment Perfection Getting Over

On Monday's episode of RAW, Braun Strowman and The Big Show wrestled another ridiculously entertaining big man match. It was Vince McMahon's platonic ideal of sports entertainment; two giants knocking f*ck out of each other in front of a fawning crowd...

...and he still instructed his production staff to mute the microphones because his perfect embodiment of a star, an impossible cartoon rendition of his wet dream, was getting too over.

What?

It was impossible to comprehend, but it's not out of the norm. You can at least understand why WWE is compelled to mute the adverse crowd reaction to Roman Reigns. He's meant to be the company's top babyface

Actually, scratch that. You can't. Triple H was crowing about Roman's ability to generate a reaction, any reaction, in the week leading up to WrestleMania 33. He claimed that it didn't matter if he was formally presented as a heel because so much of the audience already receives him as a heel, and any reaction is welcomed because it means he's doing his job. That isn't true. WWE is desperate for fans to receive Reigns as a face; when they can get away with it, the company tampers with the audio.

It's almost - almost - as if JBL is being insincere when he proclaims that WWE welcomes opinions contrary to their own.
