6. Colonel Michaels

At the SummerSlam Kickoff Show, WWE licked their fingers, gauged the wind, and determined that the correct direction was Insane City by way of Kentucky.

The KFC Colonel Sanders auditions were a subtextual Schadenfreude delight. Dolph Ziggler bragged that there was nobody better equipped than him for the role - the irony being that this naff skit is the only thing WWE has let him do in months. Enzo Amore was even more annoying than usual. The Big Show bragged about losing weight for the role, reminding all and sundry that he was once a big fat b*stard. WHO WILL BE NEXT? ran the graphic, as the audition skit turned into a melee.

The answer was revealed in fairly insane fashion. Shawn Michael's iconic theme hit the speakers. The Hall of Famer and legend, in full Colonel getup, performed his usual entrance as if he were a geriatric. Mostly. Sliding chest-first across the announce table undid the comedic premise. Or was meant to make it funnier. Who knows. It was much too bizarre to translate.

Reportedly, prior to his unfortunate, severe health scare, the older and actually white-haired Ric Flair was pencilled in for the spot, which makes a bit more sense. WWE probably had some sort of obligation with KFC, which is a shame. If there's one thing the six hour SummerSlam card didn't need, it was minutes spent on inane sh*t.
