6. Byron Saxton Is Also Weird

The latest edition of WWE Ride Along sees Tom Phillips, Corey Graves and Nia Jax share a car. It is quite weird.

Jax revealed that Byron Saxton still lives at home with his parents at 36 years old, even though his gig probably pays better than most. That was the normal part. Also entirely acceptable (nice, even) was the revelation that his mother calls him every night at midnight.

More strange was Phillips' confirmation that Jax and Saxton have some "history", which Jax coquettishly refused to confirm nor deny. "Byron likes to call me pet names, like "Samoan sweetcake," "luscious lips," and "tasty tonsils". "You're in a relationship with me and I don't know about it," is how Jax put it. Jax then called him on speaker. This was bugs-on-the-WrestleMania-canvas creepy.

"Do you want to come over to mom's house for Christmas?" I will make your favourite."

"What's my favourite?"

"Pumpkin pie!"

"That's not my favourite."

"I know it's not your favourite. That's what I was saying."

"What's my favourite?"

"The kind of apple pie that makes your toes twinkle. Your toes turn into little shooting stars!"

Where is this bizarre but sublime banter on WWE television? These acts get themselves over more on incidental filler Network content than they do on flagship programming. There is something seriously wrong there.
