4. WWE Rules

Extreme Rules was a fairly fitting name for Sunday's pay-per-view, in the end, even if "Severe" would have been more appropriate. "Nonsensical Rules" would have been the most accurate, though.

The Intercontinental Title match between Dean Ambrose and The Miz was predicated on what Ambrose couldn't do. Bayley, meanwhile, could barely bring herself to get extreme and was incapable of using the cane, anyway, when the time came.

Meanwhile, the Cruiserweight Championship match was apparently a Submissions match, which meant or used to mean that forcing your opponent to tap out was the only way to win. Oddly, when Aries applied the Last Chancery, Neville threatened to strike the referee to save his title via disqualification...in a match in which there were no disqualifications. The Steel Cage Tag Team Title match was even more moronic. At many points, the Hardy Boyz had the match won, but couldn't go through with the escape because that would have made sense. If that doesn't explain the last five minutes, watch the match. It defies explanation.

If nothing else, WWE gimmick pay-per-views compensate for how mundane they've become by offering up a card of violent, brainless action. Only one of these adjectives was accurate on the night.
