6. House Of Horrors, Part 1

Randy Orton rocked up to the titular House of Horrors at Payback in a limousine. What was WWE trying to convey with this particular aesthetic choice?

Was he presented as Bray Wyatt's antithesis - a polished, moneyed, traditional pro wrestler, a contrast to Wyatt's earthy supernatural nightmare? That makes no sense. He's been at least as awful and horrifying as Wyatt throughout their series. It's probably not worth looking into. Nothing in the House of Horrors match had any deeper meaning; it was a superficial and humourless procession of dull brawling and derivative visuals.

Wyatt is a smorgasbord of horror movie cliche, and thus so was the House. It was a backwards attempt at Blair Witch-style backwoods imagery, with the wooden stick figures synonymous with the film littering it. Wyatt, who used to sport a smock a la Leatherface and who stole his "Eater of Worlds" bit from Stephen King's IT, has evidently watched Night Of The Living Dead recently because he poked Orton through a crack in the wall like a zombie.

If only he'd watched Saw, and trapped Orton in some inescapable, deadly puzzle. We might have been spared the second act, but no. He trapped him under a fridge.

A fridge.
