3. Chyna’s Departure
Looking back on it now, this is indeed one of the saddest endings to an otherwise-stellar WWE career that shattered all kinds of glass ceilings. Chyna was a trailblazer in every sense of the word. At a time where WWE mostly saw their women as eye candy and sex objects, she was out there tearing it up in the ring with the absolute best in the company, male or female. There is no denying DX would not have the kind of aura it did without her. Unfortunately, her troubles began not long after.
What followed is extremely well documented; she had been dating Triple H when, according to Chyna in a later interview, the Game began cheating on her with Stephanie. Being directly opposed to the boss’s daughter and company heiress made her situation untenable. Now how it ended is of course the subject of much dispute. Despite initial claims that the split was amicable, Chyna would subsequently backtrack on that and explain how she had received a fax from Vince stating she was no longer required by the WWE.
Years have passed since her untimely demise and much of her legacy has been restored. There have even suggestions she will eventually get her deserved individual spot in the Hall of Fame someday. But this remains one of the tragic cases of a great career being hampered by backstage issues.
