7 New Directions For WWE After Saturday Night's Main Event (13 Dec)
3. Royal Rumble Blowoff For Cody & Drew
Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre definitely have at least one more match coming.
Personally, this guy would put the title on McIntyre at the Rumble to shake things up. He kinda has to win a big one sometime, because it's beyond a joke how many title cracks Drew has had without success in recent years. Come through for him, Triple H! McIntyre has done an amazing job to sustain heat as a heel, but he needs a wee bit of help.
WWE can either do it at the Rumble or book the pair's blowoff on the 2 January SmackDown when the show goes 3 hours again. That might actually be the ideal place, because then someone like Rhodes would be sent careening into the great unknown as part of the 30-man Rumble as Drew puts his feet up to watch it from a skybox somewhere in Saudi Arabia.
There are so many different directions they can go with this one. Failing the above, then have McIntyre bag the gold then lose it back to Cody at the Rumble. That way, WWE can get things moving on a potential Rhodes vs. Randy Orton match for WrestleMania 42. They've had that card on the table for a while without playing the hand.
As aforementioned, Oba Femi can tie into all of this if Drew costs him the NXT Title somewhere down the line. He'd be steaming mad about that and would be out for vengeance on SmackDown. Too early for a bumper Drew vs. Oba main event on one of those lengthier SmackDowns?
