7 New Directions For WWE After Saturday Night's Main Event (24 Jan)
4. Jacob Fatu Eliminating Cody Rhodes
Both Fatu and Cody came scarily close to eliminating one another at SNME. OK, maybe not, but the duo had quite the brawl throughout the arena after Jacob attacked Rhodes before the bell had even sounded. Thus, there was technically no match to report on, but it's highly doubtful that anyone watching was too disappointed.
They still got to see the pair kick one another's heads in all over the place.
Both men will enter the Rumble in Saudi, and it'd make sense if Jacob tosses Cody over the top rope to the floor. Then, they can go Rumble 1992 style by having Rhodes haul Fatu out of the ring like his name is Hulk Hogan (worst babyface ever that night, by the way!) before continuing to wallop his new arch nemesis all the way back through the curtain.
Whichever way you slice it, these brawling erm...buddies have to go hammer and tongs again sometime soon. A proper match (ideally one that doesn't have rules) is essential, because Saturday's fight showed there's some fan fervour for it. The intensity of that face to face sit down interview skit on SmackDown was top notch, and they served up more aggression in Montreal 24 hours later.
Fatu eliminating Cody and crushing his dreams of winning a third Rumble would be cool. It keeps Rhodes on the slow burn path towards a seemingly inevitable heel turn, and it'd make a slimmed down/ripped Jacob look like a major player who could well win World Titles this year himself.
