WWE fans of more than one year will rejoice at news that the Mae Young Classic is to return for its second instalment in 2018, as Vince McMahon continues to prove that he is, contrary to long-held belief, a bastion for women in sport.

If the first tournament was anything to go by, this ought to be well worth watching. It was in August and September of last year that we saw the likes of Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler make names for themselves in WWE, the former eventually crowned champion after five consecutive wins.

Whether the same format is used this time round isn't yet known - and neither, for that matter, are any of the details around its competitors. It seems a safe bet, however, to assume that it will once again take on a decidedly international flavour.

And that's what makes this event such a fantastic one. It's essentially a tantalising glimpse at some of the world's great up-and-coming talent, brought together under one roof for a few weeks of top-class, high-stakes wrestling. What's not to like?
